Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (SDMK) is located in a former power station in the street of Kirkegade, where the historic buildings annually house about 130 events within classical, rhythmic, folk, electronic, and church music in addition to speeches, guided tours, and other cultural activities.

Rhythmic concerts are mostly held in the Academy’s cosy Café Ørsted, while classical concerts often take place in the former turbine hall, which is now converted into one of Denmark’s most beautiful concert halls. The hall is recognised among the best in Europe for chamber music due to its unique acoustics.
